CommUnify has operated the Los Compadres program since 1997. The portfolio of services offered within the Los Compadres program has changed throughout the years to address current and emergent needs. However, the program's goal has remained the same: to help youth in at-risk situations become self-empowered while addressing the psycho-social issues that impede their path to success.

The program serves youth referred by Santa Barbara County Juvenile Probation. Case managers, or Compadres, are also available to work with other individuals on a contract basis. In 2020, Compadres worked with Lompoc Unified School District to provide El Joven Noble curriculum to designated middle school students. Compadres are trained on positive youth development, motivational interviewing and the following evidence-based curricula and interventions:

Mentoring

Case management services that support goal attainment, appropriate relationships, education, employment, and community involvement.

El Joven Noble

A youth development, support, and leadership enhancement curriculum designed to strengthen protective factors and aims to promote the character development of young men and facilitate continued rites of passage development with the goals of reducing and preventing unwanted or unplanned pregnancies, substance abuse, community violence, and relationship violence.

Seeking Safety

Seeking Safety is an evidence-based, present-focused counseling model to help people attain safety from trauma and/or substance abuse. It is flexible in its delivery and has been successfully implemented across vulnerable populations in a variety of settings.

Reasoning & Rehabilitation for Youth 2

A cognitive behavioral treatment intervention that teaches problem-solving, social skills, anger management, critical reasoning, creative thinking, and values. It also teaches youth self-monitoring, emotional management, interpersonal skills, communication, self-efficiency, and relapse prevention.
